Known as a "6-Moly" grade due to its 6% Molybdenum content, it offers elite resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion, far surpassing standard 316L and Duplex alloys.
With a high Pitting Resistance Equivalent Number (PREN) of at least 42, SMO 254 is specifically engineered for critical components in desalination plants and offshore oil platforms where standard stainless steels suffer rapid localized attack.
